My Story

Hi, my name is Maureen Anbar. I believe therapy is a safe space where your inner voice is heard, your story is valued, and healing begins. I am currently pursing a doctorate in psychology and in my program, I am building a strong foundation in both therapy and assessment. Specialized training in assessment is one aspect that separates psychologists from other types of mental health clinicians and offers me valuable, evidence-based guidance that can help support our treatment together. My training in assessment also helps with early intervention by allowing us to identify issues before they escalate, supporting better long-term outcomes and more effective accommodations for your specific needs. Similarly, I also draw from developmental psychology to understand how early environments and experiences impact emotional well-being over time.

Previously, I worked with adults recovering from substance use and listened to many different stories that highlighted how early life experiences shape coping strategies and how important early support can be. That insight influenced my desire to work with both adolescents and adults, offering them tools to build resilience and emotional balance. Resilience doesn’t mean feeling good all the time, but learning how to move through difficult emotions without being overwhelmed by them. To me, what creates emotional balance is a foundation of self-awareness, self-compassion, and tools you can return to, no matter what life brings.

Many people grow up without enough support to navigate their emotions in a healthy way. My goal is to provide thoughtful psychoeducation to help you build those skills and foster emotional well-being. In our work together, that might mean learning how to recognize and name your emotions, develop healthy coping skills, set boundaries, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, or simply give yourself permission to feel.

Whether you're a young person navigating growing pains or an adult seeking support and guidance, I’m here to walk alongside you in building greater self-awareness, healthier coping skills, and a stronger sense of self. My goal is to be a consistent, supportive, and compassionate presence as you evolve into the person you aspire to be. I work collaboratively with you to create a path toward a more balanced and fulfilling future.
