Dr. Amanda Lomanov, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 31901) & Supervisor (she/her)
Founder & Clinical Director, Inner Guide Therapy Los Angeles
Therapy isn't just about analyzing the past— it's about creating new emotional experiences in the present. I aim to be a steady witness, collaborator, and challenger: someone who helps you notice what's happening internally, understand it more fully, and make room for new possibilities. Sometimes the work is heavy, and grief is part of the growing process; other times, humor, new perspectives, and cultural references help ease the way. My approach blends practical tools, mindfulness-based practices, and deeper exploration of dreams and past experiences to support insight and change.
With warmth, clarity, and humor, I help thoughtful, deep-feeling adults navigate transitions, identity shifts, creative paths, and complex relationships. Whether in individual therapy, couples work, or the unique relational tapestry of groups, together we’ll explore the stories you’ve inherited and discover how to write new ones.
My path to becoming a psychologist grew out of a deep desire to understand people, patterns, and how pain is carried across generations. As a bilingual child of Jewish refugee immigrants and a first-generation college student, I bring a personal understanding of bicultural identity, intergenerational trauma, and resilience. I'm passionate about how early experiences, family histories, and cultural narratives live on inside us — sometimes offering strength, and sometimes getting in the way of what we long for now. Therapy creates space to honor these legacies while building something new.
Over the past 14 years, I’ve worked with hundreds of individuals, couples, and groups in hospitals, schools, clinics, and residential treatment centers. After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in psychology, I earned my doctorate at Yeshiva University and completed an APA-accredited internship at Nassau University Medical Center. I'm a former board member of the Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles (GPALA) and am completing my final hours toward certification as a Group Psychotherapist (CGP).
Outside of therapy, I'm a lifelong student of the mind and human condition. I also find joy in the small things — my cat Lychee, my rescue dog Matisse (training to be a therapy dog), and the connections that remind me why this work matters. Therapy, like life, can hold both seriousness and playfulness, and unexpected moments of hope.
If you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or ready for change, I'd be honored to walk alongside you as you explore, heal, and grow.
