Dr. Amanda Lomanov
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 31901) & Supervisor (she/her)
Founder, Inner Guide Therapy Los Angeles
Therapy is about having new experiences in an intimate relationship with someone who is your witness, teammate, challenger, and cheerleader all at the same time. As a clinician, I aim to be as present for you as I can, help you get curious about what you need, and encourage you to grow in the direction you want.
The things we discuss together can be heavy and often grief is a necessary growing pain. I tend to use my own personal resources, including a lot of humor, perspective-shifting, cultural references, and psychoeducation to make the painful parts of our time together as easeful as possible.
As a bilingual child of Jewish refugee immigrants and first-generation college student, I have a personal relationship to biculturalism, intergenerational trauma, and the evolving transience of the American dream. I am an eternal student of the mind and human condition and attend trainings voraciously (currently I am investigating hypnosis for PTSD as of this writing). I love animals, particularly my cat, Lychee, and my recent rescue pup, Matisse. Matisse is currently in training to join me in the office as an animal-assisted therapy dog.
Over the past 12 years, I’ve worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, including schools, hospitals, community clinics, and residential treatment centers. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Cornell University, I earned my doctorate at Yeshiva University in New York City and completed my APA-accredited internship at Nassau University Medical Center with a focus on psychological assessment and treatment of adolescents and families. I am a former member of the Board of the Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles (GPALA).
